POTSDAM - The Orchestra of Northern New York is making it easier than ever to get information about concert programs, to order tickets, to learn more about soloists and principal musicians, and to find easy ways to support this fine institution. Find out more at

The Orchestra kicks off its season on Sept. 22 with an opening gala Mostly Mozart program, also launching a new collaboration with the Julia Crane International Piano Competition at Crane School of Music. Competition finalists will give solo performances with the Orchestra with judges announcing winners at the end of the concert.

Then, on Oct. 26 and 27, in Potsdam and Watertown, ONNY will perform an all-strings program of delightful music by Elgar, Britten, Mozart, Vaughan Williams, and Mendelssohn.

The Orchestra’s annual Holiday concert, A Holiday Festival, will be presented to audiences in Potsdam, Watertown and Massena (Dec. 13, 14, and 15 respectively) and features the Potsdam Community Chorus, Northern Choral Society, and Massena High School Choir. On Feb. 8 and 9, 2014, the winter Baroque Concert will feature the Sound of the Trumpet and royal music by Handel and Purcell for Potsdam and Watertown audiences.

The family concert on March 7 and 8 will be in part a Symphony of Dinosaurs with the Orchestra playing Bruce Adolf’s delightful celebration of Tyrannosaurus Sue and her friends from the dinosaur kingdom. In addition there will be selections by John Williams and Tchaikovsky, and a selection featuring the winner of the James and Katherine Andrews Young Artist Competition.

Don’t miss the spring concert on April 26 and April 27 in Potsdam and Watertown, which will feature two of the most popular Romantic works, the great Piano Concerto No. 2 by Rachmaninoff, with Paul Wyse as soloist, and the passionate Symphony No. 8 by Dvorak. Also on the program is the Silver Overture composed by Harold Levin, Orchestra principal viola, as a gift to Kenneth Andrews and the Orchestra of Northern New York in honor of its 25th anniversary.

The season concludes with its summer Pops program featuring melodies from Broadway, which will be presented to audiences in Potsdam and Watertown on July 2 and July 3.
