POTSDAM — Town Assessor James P. Snyder has been reappointed to a six-year term, starting Jan. 1, 2014.

The Town Council voted 4-0 for the appointment Monday, following a lengthy meeting with Mr. Snyder in executive session.

“We questioned him about what he had learned, and what he could do differently,” said Supervisor Marie C. Regan. “He presented himself very well.”

She said the board members also interviewed residents and Mr. Snyder’s co-workers before making their decision.

Mr. Snyder drew criticism in the past few months because of an unpopular townwide property value reassessment.

He declined to comment on the board’s action.

“I just come in and do my job the best I can,” he said.
