Gouverneur man gets 10 years’ probation for viewing teen’s sex act over Internet

A Gouverneur man was sentenced Monday in Jefferson County Court to 10 years’ probation for watching a sexual performance by a minor over Skype.

Shawn S.S. Raymo, 23, also was ordered to register with the state as a Level 1 sex offender after a July 8 guilty plea to use of a child in a sexual performance. He and his wife, Jessica M. Raymo, 21, were charged with inducing a 15-year-old girl to engage in a sexual act that was broadcast to Mr. Raymo over the Internet in July 2011. Mrs. Raymo, who was living on Fort Drum at the time, said when she entered a guilty plea to use of a child in a sexual performance that she did so at her husband’s request.

Mrs. Raymo pleaded guilty March 22 and was sentenced June 7 to 10 years’ probation and ordered to register with the state as Level 1 sex offender. Mr. Raymo’s probation supervision will be transferred to St. Lawrence County.

Nelson, 23, Theresa, was sentenced to four years in state prison, followed by an additional three years of supervision upon his release, after a June 28 guilty plea to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was accused of selling cocaine in mid-February. He was sentenced as a second-felony offender, having been convicted of third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance, cocaine, in County Court in 2010.

Judge Kim H. Martusewicz mandated that he serve his sentence in the prison system’s Willard Drug Treatment Program. Inmates who complete the 90-day program serve the remainder of their sentence under parole supervision.

Joshua D. Mantle, 24, Watertown, was sentenced to a year in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and five years’ probation after a May 31 guilty plea to third-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon as a result of one incident and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief as a result of two other incidents. He also was ordered to pay a total of $905 in restitution.

He admitted that on May 31, 2012, he possessed a weapon that it was illegal for him to have. It had been alleged in a grand jury indictment handed up in February that he had threatened to stab a Gale Street neighbor. He also admitted that on Feb. 5, he damaged unspecified property at a home operated by Transitional Living Services of Northern New York at 1402 State St. and that on Feb. 13, he damaged items in a room at Fort Drum Studio-tel, 24097 Route 12.

Exford, 47, Watertown, was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to pay $27,500 in restitution after guilty pleas in June to third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud.
