St. Lawrence University freshman linebacker Jayson Leigh made his first collegiate game count as he was named Liberty League defensive performer of the week.
Leigh made two interceptions, including returning one for a touchdown, in SLUs 21-17 victory over the Coast Guard on Saturday. Fellow Saints linebacker James Holley-Grisham was named rookie of the week after making 16 tackles, including 10 solo stops.
St. Lawrence cross country runners Scott Smolensky and Ariel Beccia swept the mens and womens cross country runners of the week, respectively, after their performances at the Cardinal Invitational at SUNY Plattsburgh.
SLUs Julia Friesen earned womens soccer performer of the week after getting both game-winning goals in wins on Friday and Saturday over SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Oswego. St. Lawrence goalkeeper Aaron Costello was tabbed as the mens soccer defensive performer, and Morgan Smith was selected as rookie of the week.
St. Lawrence junior Elkie Vandenbeemt won womens tennis performer of the week with a 5-1 record, winning the Doubles A title at the William Smith Invitational.
Clarksons Ryan Reccia and Catherine Zarnofsky in cross country and Erika Chin in volleyball were named to the leagues honor roll.
