Lowville woman accused of possessing heroin

LOWVILLE — A village woman was accused of possessing a small amount of heroin following a Tuesday evening traffic stop on South State Street.

Lewis County sheriff’s deputies charged Amy S. Brodt, 30, of 5496 Water St., with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, answerable in Village Court.

The drug was found following a search by police dog Wyman, deputies said. State police assisted.

Ms. Brodt was released in August 2012 after serving nearly a year in state prison on charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

She was previously charged with selling morphine Jan. 20 and 21, 2010, in Lowville and with possessing on Dec. 7, 2009, a personal check belonging to David Weatherhead with a forged signature on it.
