City team leads Bassmasters tourney

HENDERSON HARBOR - The Ogdensburg team of Tim O’Grady and Steve Garrabant won over three entries of 20 pounds or more as the Northern New York Bassmasters Club closed its regular seasn with a tournament on Lake Onrtario out of Henderson Harbor.

The club weighed in 171 pounds of smallmouth and largemouth bass led by O’Grady and Garrabrant who registered a 22.62-pound bag. Ogdensburg’s Bob Marceau and Alex Bay’s Dick Garlock took second at 20.77 pounds second while te Canton team of Tyler and Carrie Capella bettered the 20-pound mark at 20.64 to place third.

Mike O’Hern and Mike Marcum of Carthage took fourth at 19.95.

Garlock landed Lunker honors with a 5.41-pound smallmouth.

The team of Brad and Robert Paradis of Ogdensburg missed the tournament because engine problems but hung on to Team of the Year honors by a 1174 to 1171 margin over Garlock and Marceau. Rounding out the top five in the finals tandings were: Doug Kirkbride of Dexter and Jim Moore of Gouverneur 1170, Chuck and Chris Roach of Heuvelton 1169 and the Capella-Capella team of Canton.

The Club Championship Tournament will be held on Sept. 21-22 with the first day’s action staged out of the State Boat Launch on Black Lake and the concluding day staged on the St. Lawrence River out of Waddington.
