Lisbon, Harrisville remain unbeaten in NAC West Soccer; Morristown doubles up Heuvelton


Lisbon and Harrisville matched 3-0 Northern Athletic Conference West Division marks while 2-1 Morristown broke the .500 barrier with a 4-2 against visiting 1-2 Heuvelton in Thursday’s Boys Soccer action.

The Golden Knights scored three first-half goals in a 5-0 shutout at Clifton-Fine. Harrisville scored the first five goals in a 7-1 victory over visiting Hammond.

Hermon-DeKalb and Edwards-Knox didn’t play due to poor field conditions after Wednesday evening and Thursday morning rain.

Hammond remained unbeaten at 4-0 doubling Harrisville 4-2 in girls soccer play.

Morristown 4, Heuvelton 2: Five Green Rockets contributed to the scoring for Morristown as Luke King stopped eight shots for the win.

“We showed signs of playing very well and then we showed signs of not paying attention to detail and not marking up. We have to limit those lapses in judgement as the season progresses,” said MCS coach George Beaulieu.

Ryan Vollmer scored from Jake VanArnam in the sixth minute and Devin Dulmage worked his way from the defensive end for a goal assisted by Jacob Fox just two minutes later. Andrew Streeter tucked home a high shot from Lucas Brown in the 22nd minute for Heuvelton’s first goal.

Zach Kanaly produced the third and game winning goal in the 48th minute from Vollmer on a 18-yard blast. Seventh grader Noah Steele cut the deficit to 3-2 for Heuvelton from Joe McDonnell in the 64th minute but Jake VanArnam sealed it four minutes later for Morristown redirecting a pass from Kanaly.

Zach Lashomb made 16 saves for Heuvelton.

Lisbon 5, Clifton-Fine 0: The 3-0 Knights opened to a 1-0 lead just 2:47 into the contest when Adam Kelley scored his first of three goals in the game against the 0-3 Eagles.

Kelley who scored unassisted provided an helper on Donnie Duprey’s goal for a 2-0 lead. Kelley and Ryan Mason hooked up 16 after Duprey’s goal in the 22nd minute.

Jake Putney and Kelley both scored in the second half as Jimmy Robinson and made two saves and Putney (no saves) shared the shutout.

Harrisville 7, Hammond 1: Bailey Clark scored just one minute into the game from Jared Dreythaler for the Pirates who scored three first half goals against the 1-2 Red Devils.

Ethan Fowler provided the game-winning goal in the 24th minute and provided a assist on the third goal from Quinton Walters in the 28th minute. Ethan Fowler led the Pirates with two goals and two assists.

Dreythaler made it 4-0 just four minutes into the second half from Tim Fowler and David Taylor made it 5-0 from C. LaPlatney.

Hammond’s Alex Fokesson broke Zane Mono’s shutout (6 saves) in the 58th minute but Harrisville closed out the scoring in the 67th on an unassisted goal from Ethan Fowler and in the 69th on a goal from Walters assisted by Ethan Fowler.

Nick Jewitt (six saves) and Jon Winchester (two saves) played goal for Hammond.


Hammond 4, Harrisville 2: Courtney Bova and Mikayla Horton each scored two goals and Cassie Whalen made six saves in goal for Hammond in a decision over Harrisville.

Bova scored two first half goals from Paige Frisina and Mariah Simmons. Horton connected from Emily Bush and Frisina in the second half.

Mackenzie Laplatney and Kalie Sixberry scored for Harrisville and Mallory Baker supplied two assists while Abby Lafaver made 17 saves in net.
