MARTINSBURG — Lewis County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday accused a town of Martinsburg man of trying to remove evidence of a marijuana plant growing at the residence.

Deputies charged Jeremy A. Edick, 21, of 3118 Gardner Road, with tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony, while his uncle, Arthur D. Edick Jr., 37, same address, was charged with unlawful growing of cannabis and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Jeremy Edick was arraigned in Lowville Town Court and released on his own recognizance, while his uncle is to answer his charges in Martinsburg Town Court.

While investigating a complaint of someone growing marijuana at the residence, deputies said they found a 2-foot-tall plant in the garden, then shortly afterward discovered remnants of another plant behind the residence.

According to deputies, Jeremy Edick admitted that once the first plant was discovered, he destroyed the other one and hid parts of the plant nearby.
