BRASHER FALLS - Tupper Lake overcame a late goal with a later one in posting a 2-1 NAC East Division varsity girls soccer win over host St. Lawrence Central on Tuesday.
In other East Division games on Tuesday, Chateaugay stopped Colton-Pierrpont 4-0 and Brushton-Moira blanked Madrid-Waddington 2-0.
Tupper Lake 2, SLC 1: A free-wheeling contest filled with open field action at SLC ended with with two goals in the final two minutes. The Larries pulled into a 1-1 tie when Jenna Kesner scored from Ashley Cayea with 1:32 remaining.
The Lumberjacks answered with an unassited goal by Lizzie Zureck.
Their player and one of our defenders were going after the ball when our goalie came out and collided with the Tupper Lake player. The ball just rolled into the net, said SLC Coach Chris Compo-Martin.
It was an exciting game which was very well played. I just wish it didnt end when it did. Our girls are coming along
Haleigh Agans turned aside 22 shots for the Lady Larries (0-4, 0-3) while Brooke Dewyea recorded 25 stops for the Lumberjacks (2-3-0, 2-2-0).
Chateaugay 4, C-P 0: At Swift Field in South Colton, the Lady Bulldogs generated all of their goals in the first half as they improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the division.
Danielle Charland got the only goal Chateaugay would need off an assist from Hannah Cook eight minutes into the game. Both Charland and Cook finished with a goal and two assists. Haylee Tower and Brianna Cook struck for the other goals while Kendra Boyea handled four shots tending the shutout.
Kathryn Miller had 11 saves for the Lady Colts (2-3, 1-2).
B-M 2, M-W 0: Jenna Dufrane scored eight minutes into the game assisted by Kenzie Traynor, who made it 2-0 in the 10th minute of the second half as the Lady Panthers improved to 4-1.
Ashley DeBeer made three saves working the crease for the shutout. Ariana Ramsey (3 saves) and Marlaina Bush (5 saves) shared goaltending duties for the Yellowjackets (1-2, 1-1).
