Henrietta A. Duncan

Henrietta A. Duncan, 95, formerly of Barben Avenue, passed away peacefully at her second home in the loving care of the staff at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.

Henrietta, known by most as “Henri”, was born December 11, 1917, daughter to Tony and Aultje Prinsen. She grew up and attended schools in the Racine, Wisconsin area.

Henrietta married Richard Duncan on February 27, 1939 and moved from Wisconsin to Watertown due to his job transfer. Richard passed on July 28, 1988.

Henrietta was an accomplished seamstress, and taught sewing in the Watertown City School District, while serving her many private clients. She also worked for many years at the Washington Street Plaza in Bockman’s Variety store, and was recently in attendance for the “safe opening” at the store, which was in the news.

Henrietta was an avid Greenbay Packers fan, and she enjoyed her crossword puzzles, cards and bingo games. She became a member of the Eastern Star, and volunteered many hours to that order. She was also a member of the Stone Presbyterian Church.

Surviving her are three children, Bruce Duncan and his wife Dorothy, Rapid River, Michigan, Bonnie Grayson and her husband Patrick, Sturtevant, Wisconsin, Candace Damon and her husband John, Watertown.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 21, 10am at Brookside Cemetery, Rev. Toby Schilling officiating. There are no calling hours.
