NORFOLK - It took a lot of hard work, cooperation and support from area businesses, community nembers, the Norwood-Norfolk Teachers Associations, faculty and staff but organizers were able to pull together in time to have a new scoreboard lit up for the first varsity soccer game for the 2013 season, stated Paul Durant, NNCS Athletic Coordinator.
As previously announced late last fall, Norwood Norfolk Central School was the recipient of a generous donation of scoreboard for our soccer field, noted NNCS Athletic Coordinator Paul Durant. Local business owner, Bob Harvey of Harvey Construction Company was very instrumental in obtaining this scoreboard from St. Lawrence University, with other local business owners. Kevin LaFleur owner of K &L Auto and Chad Ashley of Northern Machining contributed their time, supplies and materials to refurbish the scoreboard with a new paint job and lettering, Durant added.
What remained was the power installation and start up costs, which was estimated to around $5,000 to complete the project.
According to Durant, the Norwood-Norfolk Varsity Club spearheaded fundraising events to help raise additional funds but ultimately it was the support of local areas businesses, community members and the NNCS family that really help us make this a reality.
There are so many people to thank who donated money, time, material, labor and the NNCS Athletic Community truly appreciated and thanks everyone who were involved. Our intention is to utilize this new scoreboard not just soccer, but also to be used for our track meets next spring, Durant stated.
The NNCS Varsity Club and all the student-athletes also offered their thanks to all to helped out with a special thanks to the following for their generosity and support;
