NORFOLK - The Massena Central varsity girls soccer team relayed a two-goal halftime lead into a 3-0 decision on the road over Norwood-Norfolk in NAC Central Division action on Friday.
Carlie Leary got the Lady Raiders off to a promising start, breaking through for an unassisted goal just 1:58 into the game and that held up as the game-winner. Serena Hall made it 2-0 in the 28th minute when she finished off a play set up by Iestha Porter, who sealed the win by converting on an assist from Hall 25 minutes into the second half.
Bailie Young made two saves backstopping the Lady Raiders to their first win of the season. Megan Plumb (5 saves) and Breanna Deshane (4 saves) combined to work the Lady Flyer crease.
In the other Central Division games on Friday, Canton beat Salmon River 5-0 and Gouverneur blanked OFA 3-0 while pair of East Division matchups saw St. Lawrence Central turn back St. Regis Falls 2-0 and Parishville-Hopkinton drop Colton-Pierrepont 3-0.
Canton 5, Salmon River 0: At Roger Dusharm Field in Canton, the Lady Bears broke open a close game with three goals over the final 11 minutes of the first half.
Kali Frank led the way offensively with a goal and two assists. Emma Collins fashioned a goal and assist while Tori Daley and Mary Kate Mace struck for the other goals.
Katie Clemmer handled the six shots she faced backstopping the shutout while Wraven Sunday and a teammate combined to record 20 saves in the losing cause.
Gouverneur 3, OFA 0: In Ogdensburg, Noelle Carbone scored two first half goals and assisted on a second half tally by Belle Hall as the Wildcats followed up a shutout victory over Massena.
Jackie Ward picked up an assist on the first Gouverneur goal and Taylor Andrews made nine saves in the shutout. Jordyn Marcellus stopped 14 shots for OFA.
SLC 2, SRF 0: In Brasher Falls, the Lady Larries built a 2-0 halftime lead and made it stand for their first win. Lindsey Thayer opened the scoring in the fifth minute assisted by Ashley Cayea. Tera Douglas added the insurance goal eight minutes later, unassisted.
Haleigh Agans tallied six saves to earn her first shutout this season while Sara Brockway stood tall turning aside 25 of the shots she faced for the Lady Saints (0-4).
P-H 3, C-P 0: In South Colton at Swift Field, Brianna Hayes scored goals nine minutes into the game and 12 minutes into the second half, both off assists from Kodi Perkins, to spark the Lady Panthers (6-1, 3-1) past the Lady Colts (2-4, 1-3). Augustia Moulton closed out the scoring in the final minute of regulation assisted by Natalia Doane
Marlee Wilson made seven saves in posting the shutout while Kathryn Miller and Alexis VanBrocklin combined to block 18 shots for C-P.
