GOUVERNEUR A Gouverneur man was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 5:20 p.m. Friday when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone while heading south on Route 58 in the town of Gouverneur.
State police said that while passing an uninvolved car in his 2001 Ford Focus, Randy J. Brozzo struck head-on a 2006 Dodge Ram operated by Ronald J. Hartle, who was heading north.
Mr. Brozzo, whose age and street address were not listed by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Lawrence County Coroner June H. Wood.
A passenger in the Ford Focus, Brittany A. Brozzo, and Mr. Hartle were taken by Gouverneur Rescue Squad to E.J. Noble Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and were released.
