Amy L. Tabolt


LOWVILLE – Amy L. Tabolt, 100, formerly of State Route 12, died Friday evening at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility with her family at her side.

Born in Deer River on October 5, 1912, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Lydia Rice Meister, Amy attended Stoney Creek Country School in Denmark, NY. On October 6, 1930, she married Frederick G. Tabolt at St. Stephen’s Rectory in Croghan. Mr. Tabolt died on April 12, 1980.

Mrs. Tabolt enjoyed square dancing and playing the harmonica, sewing and crocheting, watching the birds and reading books and poems; but most of all she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Tabolt is survived by her five children, her three sons and four daughters-in-law, Frederick C. and his wife Margaret of Lowville; L. Michael and his wife Sharon of Lowville; Mark D. and his wife Kathy of Lowville; and Patricia Tabolt of Lowville; her three daughters, Eleanor Curtis of Fountain, FL; Marcia Jewett and husband Donald of Pamelia and Carol J. Hulbert and husband Thomas of Palmyra; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Murphy of Ohio, Millie Pelot of Chittenango and Carrie Houston of Carthage.

Mrs. Tabolt is predeceased by sons Donald J. and Larry J. Tabolt; a daughter Marie Tabolt; two brothers, Roy and John Meister; three sisters, Vera, Robin and Anna and two sons-in-law, Bobby Curtis and Jack Virkler.

A funeral mass will be said on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where Mrs. Tabolt had been a communicant for several years, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Bremen. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, September 24th from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.

Memorials in Amy’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
