The Watertown Red and Black will play the Syracuse Shock in the first round of the Empire Football League playoffs at 7 p.m. Saturday at Liverpool High School. The postseason schedule was finalized at Sundays annual year-end meeting.
The winner of that game will then play at the top-seeded NEPA Miners (Scranton, Pa.) in the semifinals on Oct. 5. The Red and Black (4-5 overall, 3-5 league) was swept by the Shock (7-2) this season, losing 30-6 and 26-0.
■ Watertown dropped its regular-season finale to the Plattsburgh North Stars, 30-16, Saturday night at Plattsburgh High School.
Watertowns Joe Brennan ran for a game-high 87 yards on 18 carries, and quarterback Tyler Michaelwicz threw a 62-yard touchdown pass to Edgar Givens. Michaelwicz went 2-for-9 for 64 yards before being replaced by Shane Slate, who completed 7-of-12 passes for 96 yards. Plattsburgh quarterback Harry Rascoe threw four TD passes.
