Samaritan Keep Home open house is today

Samaritan Keep Home will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the activity room of the building, 133 Pratt St.

The purpose is to showcase its new social model adult day care program, a “social and recreational program for seniors in order to assist with maintaining independence,” according to a news release.

The model includes nutritional meals, social and recreational activities, and possibly intergenerational activities and pet therapy. According to the release, the goals are to improve independence in an effort to keep people in their own home, to provide opportunities to develop friendships and socialize, to maintain levels of function, to help eliminate loneliness and to provide respite for caregivers.

For more information on the open house, or the program in general, call the Samaritan Keep Home at 785-4493.
