MASSENA The St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department on Thursday charged Leonard P. Deshane Jr., 27, Massena, with second-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, both class D felonies, and third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony.
According to a news release from Detective Sgt. Brooks J. Bigwarfe, the arrest came after a lengthy investigation into the burglary of a residence in the town of Louisville in late May.
Mr. Deshane is accused of breaking into the residence and stealing an undisclosed amount of money, jewelry and other items.
Additional details about the incident were not immediately available.
Mr. Deshane was arraigned by Louisville Town Justice Virginia A. Gettmann and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending, deputies said.
