Lowville attorney named Lewis County GOP chairman

LOWVILLE — A Lowville attorney has been chosen as the new head of the Lewis County Republican party.

GOP committee members recently selected Michael F. Young, who operates a private practice here and is a member of the county public defenders group, as the new chairman. He replaces former Lyonsdale town Supervisor Roscoe K. “Rocky” Fawcett Jr., who stepped down after two years at the party helm.

Mr. Young, a past district attorney, also serves as president of the Lewis County General Hospital board of managers and on the Lowville Academy and Central School and Jefferson-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services boards, among others.

Other county GOP officers are First Vice-Chairman Timothy W. O’Connor, Second Vice-Chairwoman Jean M. Demko, Secretary Judy D. Karelus and Treasurer Vicki A. Roy.
