The Sir John A. Macdonald Bicentennial Commissions Sir John A. walks, led in Kingston, Ontario, by distinguished Canadians, have been named a finalist for a prestigious tourism innovation award.
The nomination in the category Tourism Innovator of the Year comes from the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.
The association is impressed by the commissions ability to attract distinguished Canadians such as former prime ministers Paul Martin and John Turner, Hockey Night in Canada legend Don Cherry and U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson to Kingston to lead Sir John A. Macdonald-themed walking tours.
The winner will be announced at the Ontario Tourism Summit on Nov. 14 in Toronto. The two other finalists are Parkbus, a nonprofit initiative providing express bus service to key outdoor destinations in Ontario, and the Learn to Camp at Ontario Parks program.
