MONTAGUE An Adams man was killed when his utility vehicle crashed head-on into a pickup truck Saturday evening on Worth Road.
The Lewis County Sheriffs Department said the crash took place about 6:50 p.m. when a UTV heading east, driven by Michael J. Laisdell, 31, of North Main Street, Adams, hit a GMC Sierra truck driven by Anthony J. Matuszczak, 75, Gardner Road, Lowville.
Deputies said that at the time of the crash, Mr. Laisdell was driving his Polaris RZR in the center of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The department said the UTV Mr. Laisdell was driving was not road legal, and that it was a rare occurrence for them to deal with a fatal crash involving a UTV.
A passenger in the UTV, Sean M. Aubin, 35, Deferiet, was taken to Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville.
Mr. Matuszczak complained of pain in his shoulder after the crash, but his three passengers were not injured.
Aiding the department at the scene were Lewis County Search and Rescue, the Lowville Fire Department and state police.
