CHAUMONT — A Clayton man was charged by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies with second-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly damaged the roof of a convertible.

Deputies said Matthew A. Ward, 20, of 31375 Route 12, slashed the top of a 1996 Ford Mustang that belonged to Jordon M. Brundige, causing $2,871.52 in damage.

Charged at 11:25 a.m. Saturday at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, Mr. Ward was held on $3,000 bail.
