Unbeaten Potsdam showed its vast array of possessions skills and shooting ability blanking OFA 4-0 in NAC Central Girls Soccer action at Kennedy School on Monday.
The Stoners climbed to 6-0-1 in division play and remained tied for the top spot with Malone which blanked Norwood-Norfolk 6-0.
In other action Gouverneur nippedCanton 2-1 and Massena blanked Salmon River 3-0.
Potsdam 4 - OFA 0: Nettie Rishe tallied two goals and passed out an assist for the Stoners who opened a 3-0 halftime lead. Savara Aidun delivered one goal and one assist, Kalie Grant scored a single goal, Ally Miller passed out two assists and Stephanie Kearing added one assist to the support of Bre Sapps one-save shutout.
Sapps lone save came midway through the second half when she preserved the shutout with a leaping deflection of a dangerous volley from the right wing by Alicia Shaver which was labeled for the upper left corner of the net. OFAs Kristen Snyder stopped four shots on the day.
Potsdam was just a super team. They took a lot of shots at our goal, especially in the first half, said OFA Coach Al Rishe Jr.
We played too many balls in the air today. We just arent going to win those balls. We have to work at keeping the ball on the ground when we play at Salmon River on Thursday.
OFA JVs 2 - Potsdam 0: Lexi Kennedy scored when she redirected a shot from Erin Tooley in the first half and in the second half, midfielder Ashley Barr, hammered a shot high into the net from the 18, after a back pass from Kennedy. Keeper Alicia Garcia handled four saves in net for the shutout.
This win was a total team effort. We only had four subs and the girls played hard every second of the game. Kiera Johnson, Lexi Kennedy, and Natalie McCormick really hustled on offense. Natalie Ryan, Ashley Barr and Ali Moore controlled the midfield, said OFA Coach Renee Tebo.
Sweeper Jill Lincoln did a stellar job communicating with stopper Kelsey Pinkerton, and defender Abby Marshall played a great game. Erin Tooley, who is celebrating her birthday today, played aggressively both on offense and defense.
Gouveneur 2 - Canton 1: Bell Hall scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute. Emily Bush picked up the assist on the goal and Danielle McCormick tied the game on a indirect kick in the 23rd minute for the 5-2, 4-2 NAC Central Wildcats. Emma Pinckney scored in the 2nd minute for Canton (6-3, 3-3 NAC Central). Taylor Andrews stopped 14 shots for Gouverneur and Katie Clemmer made 10 stops for Canton.
Massena 3 - SR 0: Iastha Porter scored twice for the Raiders and Serena Hall added a single goal for the Raiders (3-4). Wraven Sunday made four saves for SR (2-5).
Malone 6 - N-N 0: Abigail Collins, Annie Sharlow, and Gabrille Collins each scored twice for Malone and Jayme Lavoie had the shut out.
