MASSENAThe New York Power Authority (NYPA) will continue its free Friday Matinees in October with showings of classic and contemporary movies at the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Hydroelectric Power Plants admission-free Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch in Massena.
Every Friday in October, NYPA will show the scheduled movies at 1:30 p.m. in the visitorscenter auditorium. Free popcorn will be provided.
The movie schedule for October is:
Oct. 4: You Lucky Dog (2010). When a metropolitan working woman returns to her hometown, she discovers the towns cattle ranching heritage has fallen on tough economic times and her own family ranch is struggling.
Oct. 11: The Bouquet (2013). Two estranged sisters torn apart by their differences suddenly find themselves working together at their parents struggling florist business.
Oct 18: After All These Years (2013). A woman works to clear her name after she discovers her husbands dead body and becomes the number one suspect in a murder investigation.
Oct. 25: Smart Cookies (2012). A high-maintenance realtor forced to do community service must lead a group of hopeless girl scouts in the regional cookie drive competition.
Visitors can also sample the array of hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point facility, which presents information on such subjects as water power and NYPAs St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project. Visitors will also be sure to enjoy the panoramic views of the power dam. The Visitors Center will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through Columbus Day. During the off-season, the Visitors Center will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
