CANTON - Undefeated Canton (4-0) secured honors in 10 of 11 races to down OFA (3-2) 111-59 in NAC Girls Swimming action on Wednesday at the Golden Bears’ pool. Highlighting the action were matchups of league leaders between OFA’s Susie Morrow and the Canton duo of Angelina Domena in the 200 individual medley and Dasha LaPoint in the 100 butterfly.

Domena, a Madrid-Waddington student who swims for Canton through a merger agreement, prevailed in the 200 IM 2:28.16-2:30.81 swimming the best time in the NAC this season. LaPoint posted a NAC season best and a personal best to fashion a 1:09.19-1:11.46 margin of victory in the butterfly. The Bears’ Macy Huntley also logged an NAC season best leading the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.02.

“Angelina and Dasha swam great races today and as a team we really had a great day. That was first time that Angelina had been able to beat Susie in the IM. But that could all change when we go to OFA later in the season,” said Canton Coach Meg McGovern.

“Susie Morrow is a great swimmer who works very hard and she is a great kid along with the other OFA swimmers. Ben (OFA Coach Ben Fleahman) talked about how good it was good for the girls to go head-to-head today.”

OFA’s lone win on the day came from Julia Mullin who outdueled Canton’s Macy Huntley in the 200 freestyle (1:16.71-2:17.86).

Canton’s victory was anchored by a group of multiple medalists in: Domena (200 IM, 200 Fs, 200 Fs Relay, 400 Fs Relay), Claire Olin (200 Medley Relay, 200 Fs Relay), LaPoint (100 Fly, 500 Fs, 400 Fs Relay, 200 Fs Relay), Rachel Huntley (100 backstroke, 400 Fs Relay), Macy Huntley (100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay) and Breda McCormick (200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay). Katherine Bailey rounded out the medley relay team.

Individual seconds for OFA came from Natalie Perrigo in the 100 breastroke and Mullin in the 100 freestyle.
