LOWVILLE A Croghan man is to serve state prison time for illegally possessing prescription drugs.
Sade D. Emerson, 25, Jerden Falls Road, was sentenced Friday in Lewis County Court to three years in prison, two years of post-release parole supervision, a six-month drivers license suspension and $375 in court fees on a charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, to which he pleaded guilty Aug. 23.
Mr. Emerson was accused of possessing lorazepam and carisoprodol April 18 in the town of New Bremen.
Also in Lewis County Court on Friday:
Brandon W. Hellinger, 25, of 7606 N. State St., following unsuccessful completion of the county Drug Court program, was sentenced to one to three years in prison, a three-year conditional discharge, a $2,000 fine, $820 in court fees, a one-year drivers license revocation and mandatory participation in the ignition interlock and victim impact panel programs on a charge of tampering with physical evidence, to which he pleaded guilty Sept. 6, and a prior driving while intoxicated charge. Mr. Hellinger was accused of tampering July 30 with evidence in a case by removing nude images from a cellphone. He was stopped in August 2012 on Route 12 in the town of Martinsburg.
Kenneth J. Keehner, 41, of 7334 Brantingham Road, Greig, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree bail jumping and pleaded guilty to that charge, along with prior ones for DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Sentencing was set for Nov. 15. Mr. Keehner was stopped Dec. 10, 2010, on Brantingham Road in the town of Greig, then allegedly failed to appear for an arraignment on those charges following his indictment in 2011.
Todd M. Suiter, 23, of 7574 S. State St., pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree assault and resisting arrest. Sentencing was set for Nov. 15. Mr. Suiter was accused of hitting Deputy Brett W. Croneiser and trying to avoid arrest July 25 in the town of Watson.
Samantha Ablan, 28, of 6263 Chases Lake Road, Glenfield, was arraigned on a charge of fourth-degree attempted grand larceny and pleaded guilty. Sentencing was set for Nov. 15. Ms. Ablan was accused of attempting to steal a credit or debit card belonging to Linda Harris on Aug. 4 in Lowville.
Randy S. Rudd, 43, of 3125 West St., Constableville, was arraigned on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals and pleaded guilty. Sentencing was set for Nov. 15. Mr. Rudd was accused of, on Aug. 6 in the town of Croghan, shooting a dog several times with a BB gun.
Nathan J. Biro, 35, of 7802 Penny Settlement Road, Port Leyden, was arraigned on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child and pleaded guilty to the charges. Sentencing was set for Dec. 6. Mr. Biro was accused of, on July 22 in the town of Lyonsdale, punching a hole in the windshield of a Hyundai Santa Fe belonging to Brandy Biro while a 10-year-old child was in the vehicle.
James R. Sullivan, 35, Port Leyden, was arraigned on a charge of attempted tampering with physical evidence and pleaded guilty to the charge. Sentencing was set for Nov. 8. Mr. Sullivan was accused of trying to get rid of a glass tube containing methamphetamine during an Aug. 31 traffic stop by attempting to throw it off the South State Street bridge in Lowville.
