OGDENSBURG - Ogdensburg’s Bob Marceau went fishing in the Waddington area on Sunday looking for a big largemouth bass.

The longtime tournament angler, a member of the Northern New York Bassmaster Club, landed the biggest bass he had ever caught after a 7.05-pound largemouth, spanning 24 inches, slammed a six-inch Junebug colored Senko which was Texas rigged.

“I knew it was big as soon it hit. It made serveral long runs and my line was cutting right through a weedbed,” said Marceau who fishing with special 30-pound test power line which has the diameter of 12-pound test.

“The fish did not have a lot in its stomach so I think it was just starting to feed for the winter. If I had caught the fish in a month or so it might have weighed over 10 pounds. I have never had a bass mounted before but I am going to have Larry Vielhauer to do this one because I might not live long enough to catch a bigger one,” he noted
