NEW BREMEN The long-awaited return of the Adirondack International Speedway will remain just that.
The racetrack was scheduled to have its first race after a four-year hiatus Sunday, but heavy rain postponed the event to Oct. 19.
Postponing the tracks grand return is just another obstacle for track owner Paul H. Lyndaker.
The track was closed following a 2010 lawsuit the speedway filed against Lewis County, which stemmed from an unresolved lien against the property filed in 2004.
Before the poor weather, the driving pit was full, though Mr. Lyndaker did not have an exact number available at the time the races were postponed.
Racers had time to practice before the rain hit. The event was postponed about 3 p.m. The rain let up less than two hours later.
