LISBON - The town has released its tentative 2014 budget which will be finalized over the coming weeks before being adopted in November.

The 2013 budget included a $2.6 million spending plan while the tentative 2014 budget ups that figure to $2,722,897.

The expenses will be balanced by $1.4 million in revenue, an $865,480 tax levy and the application of $459,366 from the town’s fund balance.

Last year’s tax rate was $5.35 per $1,000 and the tentative budget would increase that slightly to $5.42.

The Lisbon Hepburn Library increased its budget from $48,000 in 2013 to $52,600.

Included in the tentative budget are two-percent raises for the town justices, town clerk, highway superintendent, assessor, code enforcement officer, attorney, dog control officer, sewer and water purification supervisor and public works director.

At the September meeting the Town Council tabled discussion regarding a raise for the youth program coordinator and the director of the Lisbon Beach and Campground.

Town budget officer William E. Dashnaw said the Town Council will have to come to a decision at the meeting on Wednesday in order to have enough time to pass a budget in November.

In addition to determining whether or not the campground director and youth program coordinator positions will receive raises the Town Council will also review the impact of the tentative two-percent raises on the overall budget. None of the town councilors or the town supervisor will receive a raise.
