NORWOOD - Community Bank, N.A., a national banking association with over 185 retail locations throughout Upstate New York and Pennsylvania, announced Wednesday it is changing its operating schedule for two of its St. Lawrence County branches.
Effective Nov. 12, 2the Norwood Branch located at 28 South Main St., Norwood, will be open two days a week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Waddington Branch located at 1 Main St., Waddington, will be open three days a week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Fridays. Community Bank also announced plans to install an ATM at the Waddington Branch in the near future to service customers in that community when the branch is not open.
We remain committed to this region and to the customers in Norwood and Waddington, said Hal Wentworth, senior vice president of Retail Banking. We want to continue to support both communities and see this as the best way to efficiently provide service.
Mr. Wentworth said that existing Community Bank staff members will continue to serve customers in both branch locations and there will be no layoffs. He also noted that, as always, the bank will assist customers in the Norwood and Waddington Branches with direct deposit, online banking, telephone banking and with access to nearby Community Bank locations in Potsdam, Madrid, Ogdensburg, Massena and Canton.
St. Lawrence County is the birth place of Community Bank, which started out as St. Lawrence County National Bank in 1866.
In 2010, the bank made a major commitment to the region when it built a $3 million operations center.
With 13 branches in St. Lawrence County, along with operational and administrative staff, Community Bank, N.A., employs almost 300 people in St. Lawrence County.
