Salmon River spikers turn back M-W in four sets


FORT COVINGTON - After splitting the first two sets, the Salmon River Central varsity girls volleyball team swept the next two in claiming a 3-1 NAC win on Tuesday.

Raven Oakes tallied 13 points, nine kills and eight assists as the Lady Shamrocks won by scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 25-23. Iakohinweintsiawaken Mitchell contributed 12 points and eight kills followed by Brittany Brooks with 11 points while Kiana Thompson tallied five points and four kills as Salmon River improved to 6-3 overall.

For M-W (3-8), Simone Doelger served up 16 points, including four aces. Jenny King added 12 points and three kills. Britanni Dawley contributed 10 points and five sets and Janelle Trombley finished with five digs and five points.

The lone other NAC volleyball matchup on Tuesday saw Chateaugay sweep Edwards-Knox 25-17, 25-11, 25-21.
