OFA runs well at invitational


FORT COVINGTON - Lisbon Central senior Laura Pierce led the girls varsity field and four OFA runners earned top 20 positions as Salmon River hosted the second Northern Conference Cross Invitational of the season on Tuesday.

Pierce outdueled Malone standout Rekekah Bond 19:32.4-19:48 to share individual honors with Norwood-Norfolk’s Kyle Fulk (17:18.07) who edged Gouverneur’s Jake Erdman (17:21.12) in the boys varsity race.

“Overall, it was a good day with much improvement in times from last month at Salmon River,” said OFA Coach Chris McRoberts. “And we look forward to more improvement at sectionals there in three weeks.

Donnie Smith and Joey Grizzuto plaed sixth and 16th in the Boys Varsity Race and Kurstyn Macaulay and Sara Mitchell placed 15th and 17th in the Girls Varsity Race.

Malone claimed team honors in both races. Malone led the Girls Varsity race with 34 points followed by Canton 59, NN 60,Gouv 112, OFA 130, Pot 135, BM 152. The Malone Boys prevailed with 35 points followed by Gouv 64, NN 76, TL 103, OFA 121, Pot 173, Can 185, and SR 220.


Modified Girls Race: 15th Courtney Loffler 13:09, 27th Kiana Conger 15:11. Modified Boys: 25th Dylan Arquitt 12:36, 30th Chris Cole 13.22, 32 Ian Berg 13.47, and 39 Shawn Rubin 14.19.

Varsity Girls: 15th Kurstyn Macaulay 21.37, 17 Sara Mitchell 22.32, 28 Ellen Miller 24.28, 45 Shelby Mack 27.14, 57 Shawna Rickett 30.49, 61 Zoey Bishop 33.34

Varsity Boys Race: 6th Donnie Smith 17.51, 16 Joe Grizzuto 19.21, 32 Nick Vielhauer 20.05, 35 Baily Phelps 20.34, 51 Sebastian Quintilliani 21.38, 52 Colin Sovie 21.51, 64 Ian Pearl 22.59, 69 Owen Pearson 23.20, 76 Nate Stowe 24.11, 79 Seth Tebo 25.19, 88 Connor Banning 27.48, 93 Alex Cole 28.03, 94 Tim Spearance 28.03, and 95 Vinnie Molinari 28.03.
