Buffalo magazine: TI Central is No. 1 academic performer in Jefferson County

CLAYTON — Thousand Islands Central School District is the top academic performer in Jefferson County, according to the Buffalo-based Business First magazine’s 2013 ranking of upstate New York schools.

The magazine compiled four years of test data for the academic ranking.

In the tri-county area — Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Lewis counties — Potsdam, Beaver River and Canton school districts were the top three performers, with Thousand Islands trailing closely behind in fourth place.

Business First also gave Thousand Islands a five-star designation in social studies — meaning the district scored in the top 10 percent of all school districts in 48 counties of upstate New York.

Thousand Islands was ranked 83rd among 429 upstate schools.
