David E. Piche, 84, W. Main St., Watertown and formerly of Chaumont, passed away Wednesday, October 9th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.
He was born in Watertown, November 23, 1928 a son to Wilfred and Beatrice Layton Piche. David enlisted in the US Navy in 1947 and served during the Korean War, until his honorable discharge in 1951. Following the completion of his military service, David went to work at Black Clawson in Watertown as a machinist retiring after 31 years of service.
David served as Union President of the Machinist and Aerospace Workers union for many years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing, his dogs and living on Lake Ontario.
He is survived by a daughter Denise (Theodore) Schofield, Chaumont. A son David C. (Marcie) Piche, Broken Arrow, OK. Four grandchildren, Dakota, Ashton, Kaden and Brody Piche. A sister Bernadette Torrey, Utah and his wife Ilene (Clark) Piche. Several nieces and nephews. Five brothers Jack, Fred, Richard, Robert and Allan Piche all predeceased him.
The funeral service will be 8:00pm Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Father Mike Gaffney officiating.. Burial will be private. Calling hours will precede the funeral on Tuesday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
