Massena woman injured in one-vehicle rollover in Morristown

MORRISTOWN - No serious injuries were reported after a Chevrolet Traverse rolled over on Route 12 near the intersection with Atwood Road.

The SUV, driven by Zachary Kuhn, 24, of Massena, was totaled during the accident that took place just after 3 p.m. Monday.

“He hit the guard rails, the embankment and rolled twice,” Brier Hill Volunteer Fire Department Chief Shawn R. Macaulay said.

The Brier Hill Fire Department and Morristown Volunteer Rescue Squad were on the scene as well as Ogdensburg-based state police.

Mr. Kuhn’s passenger, Katherine Lashomb, 29, also of Massena, was taken to the hospital complaining of neck and head pain ,according to troopers.

Troopers said Mr. Kuhn, who was traveling north on Route 12, told them he was talking with Ms. Lashomb at the time of the accident and got distracted.

Mr. Kuhn’s car hit the guard wires, and state police said it appeared he over corrected before driving off the road.

The car rolled over twice before being tangled in wire fencing and coming to a stop on its left side.

Mr. Kuhn was able to walk away without any injuries.

State police ticketed Mr. Kuhn for moving from his lane unsafely.
