The Massena Central and St. Lawrence Central varsity girls swim teams posted convincing NAC wins on Tuesday.
Massena 96, Edwards-Knox 56: In Russell, the Lady Raiders built a commanding 96-28 lead through the first eight events before settling for the win. Emily Hurlbut was the lone Massena swimmer to score a pair of individual firsts, leading the 200 freestle in 2:16.5 and the 500 freestyle in 6:17.28. Also logging wins for the Lady Raiders were Baylee Carroll in the 200Im with a time of 2:42.97, Savannah Hays in the 50 freestyle with a time of 29.37 seconds, Kalie Peets in the 100 buttefly with a time of 1:14.87 and Abby Elman in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:04.
Hays, Peets and Carroll also combined with Makenzie LaBrake to lead the 200 medley relay in 2:14.53. The quartet of Courtnee Stowell, Taylor Brault, Hurlbut and Carroll won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:58.63.
Kristen Farr won the 100 backstroke and Cartherine Curley led the 100 breaststroke to account for the solo firsts produced by E-K.
Massena (7-1) swims at undefeated NAC Division I leading Canton on Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. Canton outscored Gouverneur 123-43 in the other meet staged on Tuesday.
SLC 54, Salmon River 34: At Fort Covington, the Lady Larries won seven of the first eight events before swimming exhibition over the final three races.
Scoring solo firsts for SLC were; Cammie Ramsdell in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:26.04, Breanna Anderson in the 200IM with a time of 2:51.66, Bailee Gauthier in the 50 freestyle with a time of 30.6 seconds, Alex Craft in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:03.91 and Cat Rusaw in the 500 freestyle with a time of 7:10.73.
The quartet of Taylor Capozzi, Faith McLaughlin, Hailey Arquiett and Madee Derouchie won the 200 medley relay in 2:19.78. Derouchie also combined with Chelsea Savage, Mackenzie Franklin and Cammie Ramsdell to pace the 200 freestyle relay in 2:07.55.
Caroline Russell (100 butterfly), Melanie Taylor (100 backstroke) and Lauren Martin (100 breaststroke) accounted for the Salmon River individual firsts. The team of Kariwiiostha, Kearin Adams, Nicole Hart and Destiny Thomas captured the 400 freestyle relay in 5:12.82.
SLC (6-2) is slated to swim at Franklin Academy next Tuesday while Salmon River (1-6) heads to Edwards-Knox on Friday.
