DEKALB JUNCTION - It might have been a slow start for Hermon-DeKalb on Friday in Northern Athletic Conference West Division Girls Soccer action but once the Demons scored the goals came in bunches in a 5-1 decision against Edwards-Knox at home.
The Demons (9-4-1, 9-4 NAC West) set up a third place tie in the division with Hammond at 18 points as H-D scored three goals 12 minutes apart beginning with Kasey ODonnells goal from Morgan Stott in the 18th. Brooke Woodrow and Rhys Bryant followed with unassisted markers in the 20th and 30th to take a 3-0 lead.
We started slow but once we got our first goal things started to happen, said H-D coach Jan Merchant.
After MaKenzie Frary connected from Katie Smith in the 45th for Edwards-Knox, Bryant banged home her second goal from a Courtney Harrington cornerkick in the 47th and Woodrow followed up a ODonnell pass in the 54th to finish off the scoring.
Chelsey MacKay had three saves for H-D. Kelsey White stopped 16 shots for E-K (4-9).
In other action, Tupper Lake topped St. Regis Falls 2-0 on unassisted goals from Lizzie Zurek and Lindsay Maroun in the second half in NAC East play. Brooke Dewyea made no saves in the shutout for Tupper Lake (6-8-1, 6-6-1). Sarah Brockway made 26 saves for St. Regis Falls.
