WEST CARTHAGE The village Board of Trustees approved expenditures and new fire department members and waived a water bill during its meeting Tuesday.
At the start of the meeting, Mayor Scott M. Burto requested a moment of silence recognizing the passing of village historian Harold I. Sanderson.
The board waived $949.03 water and sewer charges for Mark Pominville. He recently purchased 21½ N. Main St. at the Jefferson County tax auction, but before he could take possession, the former tenant racked up the bill.
Approval was given for Tyler Chappelle and Caleb Robinson to join the village fire department.
The board agreed to pay the extra cost for a computer for the water department and Department of Public Works. The computer was budgeted at $700 but ended up costing $938.
The replacement of Christmas lights for the street poles along Bridge Street was approved.
There was $3,000 budgeted for the expenditure; however, the new lights are estimated to cost close to $4,000. Part of the needed extra funds will be drawn from a $500 fund set aside for flags.
The board decided to change its meeting schedule to once monthly meetings set for the second Monday except when there is a legal holiday. The November meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 12, because of Veterans Day.
Halloween trick or treating hours were set for from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
All-night parking prohibition goes into affect Nov. 1. Parking on the street will not be allowed from 2:30 to 6 a.m. on any village street. However, overnight parking is allowed in the public parking lot on Bridge Street.
