HARLINGEN, TX – Sylvia Kriwox Chennell, 78, formerly of Glenfield, passed away at her home in Harlingen, on October 6, 2013 under the care of her devoted and loving husband Ralph.

She was born on March 2, 1935 in Otter Creek, NY daughter of the late John and Eva Carbino Kriwox

Sylvia and Ralph Chennell where married on September 24, 1994. Sylvia and Ralph made their summer home in the town of Watson where they spent time with family and friends. They loved traveling coast to coast in their motor home. They did sightseeing, visiting family and friends with frequent stops at casino’s along the way. She also enjoyed making crafts, and having dinner parties for their many friends at Stuart Place.

In Harlingen, Sylvia was very active in many community groups and activities and was past vice president of Stuart Place Home Owners Association. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.

Surviving Sylvia is her husband Ralph, six children and two step sons, Eric and Nancy Bauer of Glenfield; Randy and Maggie Bauer of Glenfield; June Abel and Jack Garlock of Oneida; Tammey and David Lustyik of Glenfield; Matthew and Polly Weiler of Constableville; Barbara Rhubart of Port Leyden; Thomas and LeeAnn Chennell and Todd and Maria Chennell all of Rochester; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; four brothers, John and Ruth Kriwox of Oregon; Peter and Janet Kriwox of Greig; Sam and Linda Kriwox of Lowville; Garry and Kathy Kriwox of Florida; three sisters, Louise and Donald Hulbert of Brantingham; Eva Van Zandt of Glenfield; Amanda and Donald Blade of Glenfield; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She is predeceased by her son, Kevin Weiler; stepson, Timothy Chennell; seven brothers, Charles Carbino, Eric, Paul, Steve, Joseph, and Donald Kriwox; Albert Dumas; five sisters, Myrtle Kriwox, Theresa Sweeney, Nellie Grabb, Pauline Salmon, and Ruth Cobb.

The family would like to express their Thanks to Hospice of Harlingen and especially to Rosa and Louise and Dr. Castillo.

Sylvia’s calling hours will be on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2 to 4pm followed be her memorial service at 4:00pm with Rev. Evan Zehr officiating at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
