PARISHVILLE - The Parishville-Hopkinton varsity girls soccer team closed out the NAC East Division regular season with a 1-0 win at home over Madrid-Waddington on Thursday.
Senior Kodi Perkins finished off a play set up by Nicole White with 26 seconds left in the first half and the Lady Panthers made it stand for the win
Marlee Wilson fielded the six shots she faced backstopping the shutout while Ariana Ramsey posted 17 saves for M-W.
Both teams will now gear up for the Section 10 Class D playoffs which get underway next Tuesday. P-H (13-3, 11-3) will likely earn a first-round bid before taking on a quarter-final round opponent while the Lady Yellowjackets (5-8-2, 5-7-2) are slated to play on Tuesday.
In the other NAC East finales on Thursday, Chateaugay completed an undefeated run to the division crown with a 7-1 win on the road over St. Lawrence Central and Colton-Pierrepont blanked St. Regis Falls 7-0.
Chateaugay 7, SLC 1: At Brasher Falls, Hannah Cook netted two goals and helped set up of two others as the Lady Bulldogs worked their way to a 4-0 halftime lead before going on to raise their overall record to 15-0-1 and league mark to 14-0. Katie Beach fashioned two goals and one assist in the win over the Lady Larries. Brianna Cook, Alicia Cook and Madison Breen struck for the other Chateaugay goals while Kennedy Boyea logged five saves working the crease for the win.
Brenna Evans finished off a play set up by Lindsey Thayer to account for the lone SLC goal midway through the second half.
The Lady Larries (3-12-1, 3-10-1) head into the Class C playoffs starting on Tuesday with a semi-final round game at Tupper Lake starting at 3 p.m. The other Class C opener has Norwood-Norfolk playing at Brushton-Moira. The sectional final is Saturday, November 2, at SUNY Canton starting at 1:30 p.m.
