Its been said that the first casualty in any war is usually the truth, and nothing is more obvious in the cultural war between liberals and conservatives.
It is a war manipulated by the very media entrusted to report it objectively. The latest battle in this war is, of course, over the government shutdown brought about by intransigent debate over ObamaCare and the ever present debt crisis.
The media, having already chosen sides in the debate, are once again concealing facts from the public to guide opinion. A case in point: On Oct. 2, Times City Editor Perry White wrote a veritable expose on Tea Party shows arrogance of power and in doing so took editorial license to edit out the truth.
In short, his long-winded dissertation about the tea party, as if it really is an actual party, and their objections to ObamaCare are merely to be deconstructionist. And in the usual hyperbolic rhetoric that passes for liberal discourse to distract readers from the facts, Mr. White attempts to convince you of what to think instead of laying the facts out before you and allowing you to think for yourself.
Im old school, and we simply called this type of speech what it is: Either outright lies or propaganda, but I digress.
Its the tea party conservatives who dont want to play by the rules established by the Constitution, he states, as if this administration has respect for the Constitution.
Nowhere does it say the president can alter or give waivers to legislation once enacted into law as Obama has done for political supporters of his Affordable Care Act. Nor does the Constitution allow a president to enforce only laws of his choosing and or disregard others such as our immigration laws to benefit his own party, does it, Mr. White?
Mr. White should at least throw some of his disgust toward the president for his own objections to his own ACA since it is he, Obama, giving waivers to it, not the tea party. And, of course, he failed to mention that the Congress, their staff, the president and his cabinet are all exempt from ObamaCare.
No, tea partiers such as myself are not allowed exposes in liberal newspapers to state that our objections to ObamaCare are due to the presidents total misrepresentation of the ACAs impact on America, from cost to coverage, and avoiding the fact that 30 million will still be uninsured. The lies are only beginning to manifest themselves, not because the liberal media have done their due diligence in informing the public but because they are lies. Yet the media continue to hide facts relevant for educated debate.
Should anyone in this country really be expected to choose between medicine and food or heat Mr. White lectures. These are the musings of an adolescent socialist posing utopian questions but providing only a single totalitarian answer: the state.
The divide between Americans, Mr. White, is a reflection of the existing chasm between truth and propaganda. Yours is propaganda!
Democrats passed ObamaCare when they briefly controlled the House of Representatives, the Senate and the presidency: one-party rule. The Republican Congress was elected in direct opposition to it and that has always been constitutional, until now.
