CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE - CANTON - Canton-based state police charged Billy J. Shannon, 21, of Madrid with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic needle and unlawful possession of marijuana after responding to a personal injury accident at 7:48 a.m. Friday on Route 310 in the town of Canton.
Troopers said Shannon was southbound on Route 310 when he rearended another southbound vehgicle being operated by Richard Tombler of Cornwall, Ont. Shannon then veered to the right, went off the roadway and landed a cornfield.
Shannon suffered a fractured jaw, but Mr. Tombler was not injured in thr crash, troopers said.
DWI - WINTHROP - Massena-based state police charged Kody J. Hanna, 20, of Winthrop with driving while intoxicated and ticketed him for failure to use designated lane and speeding after responding to a property damage accident at 12:55 a.m. Saturday on County Route 49 in the town of Stockholm.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENTS - ST. REGIS FALLS - Malone-based state police said they responded to two property damage accidents at 6:55 p.m. Friday on Route 458, near Cook Road, in the town of Waverly. Troopers said the vehicles were operated by Ariel L. Gardner, 19, of St. Regis Falls and Thomas C. Brown, 24, of St. Regis Falls.
