Massena Central spikers sweep past Tupper Lake

MASSENA - The Massena Central volleyball team closed out the NAC regular season with a sweep at home over East Division rival Tupper Lake on Friday.

The Lady Raiders improved to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in the division after downing the Lumberjacks by scores of 25-5, 25-10, 25-16. They will now get set to take on Franklin Academy in the Section 10 Class B Championship on Wednesday at the Potsdam Central gym starting at 5 p.m.

Against Tupper Lake (3-13, 1-9), Katelynn Malone (4 kills) and Krista Loran served up 18 points each to anchor the Massena effort. Samanntha Villnave worked the front line for seven kills while Madeline Thibault fashioned seven assists.

GIRLS SWIMMING

In the lone NAC varsity girls swim meet staged on Friday, 10-0 Canton pulled away to a 112-58 decision at home over Potsdam.

Ariana Frascatore accounted for the lone win for the visiting Lady Sandstoners (6-4) after pacing the 500 freestyle in 6:33.06. She also placed third in the 200 free while Emma Kroll took second in both the 200IM and 100 butterfly.

Angelina Domena (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and Dasha LaPoint (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) scored two individual wins apiece to lead the Lady Bears (10-0). The Lady Sandstoners are slated to swim at Division II rival Edwards-Knox next Tuesday.
