I would like to take this opportunity to express my support for Francis Barney for highway superintendent for the town of Hopkinton.
I have known Frank for seven years and find him to be very qualified for this position. Frank has also taken the time to attend the Town Board meetings to familiarize himself with the board and the issues pertaining to the town.
He has a vast amount of experience from his time served in the New York Army National Guard to running his own dairy farm to his time as a mechanic at St. Regis Falls Central to his current position as the transportation supervisor at Edwards Knox Central School. He has the ability to repair large or small machinery, scheduling job assignments to employees, equipment replacement, safety training and working within a union contract.
In addition to being a volunteer fireman, he also serves as the chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners and is a director of the Fire Department. He gives many hours to these organizations. Frank also volunteers his time during the annual SummerFest, whether assisting with the setting up of tents and grills or cooking during the weekend.
In speaking with Frank, you will find an honest man with a plan. He has set goals for the highway department that include implementing a scheduled maintenance and replacement plan for all equipment and looking into more shared services.
In closing, I would ask that you join me in voting for Frank on Nov. 5. Vote for a vet.
