ASSAULT - MASSENA - A Massena man faces two misdemeanor charges following a domestic dispute with his wife early Sunday morning.
Village police charged Christopher A. Northrup, 39, of 20 Parker Ave., Apt. 2, Massena, with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief at 2:21 a.m. Sunday after responding to a domestic dispute complaint.
The couple were reportedly returning home from Friar Tucks when Northrup punched his wife, Cassondra, several times. She reportedly suffered several lacerations to her tongue and lips.
The argument reportedly continued when the couple returned home, and Northrup allegedly took his wifes keys and phone and threw them across the yard. The phone was no longer operable. He also allegedly dragged Ms. Northrup by her hair across the yard.
He was arraigned Sunday morning by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Police said Mr. Northrup had mumerous bruises and abrasions on his face when he was taken into custody. He and his wife both indicated he had been in a fight at Soft Tails earlier in the evening.
Village police had previously charged Northrup with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child at 11:31 p.m. Oct. 4. Police said in that incident an argument broke out over someone eating the last of the ice cream.
He reportedly pushed his wife into the bedroom and onto the bed. The argument took place in the presence of the couples children - ages 6, 11 and 13.
