SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center takes part in Read for the Record

POTSDAM - The SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center, Inc., recently participated in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record by reading the book “Otis” by Loren Long.

Since 2006, Jumpstart has partnered with the Pearson Foundation on a campaign that brings together millions of Americans to break the world record for reading the same book on the same day. The Potsdam students were among 2,462,860 children worldwide who set a new world record for reading the same book at once through the national campaign.

Linda Dashnaw, program assistant at the SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center, read the book to 28 preschool children, followed by a felt board activity. So far, the campaign has engaged 9 million children, raised more than $8 million for early education programs and provided more than 1.2 million books for children in low-income neighborhoods.

The SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center is proud to have participated for the second year in this celebration of literacy.

SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center, Inc. is a fully licensed, center-based child care facility, serving children of the College’s faculty, staff and students, as well as the community at large. For more information, visit
