Exeter, NH & formerly of Watertown, NY- Howard Berkman Jr., 84, died on October 29, 2013 at the Exeter Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on November 22, 1928 in Sandy Creek, NY, the son of the late Howard Berkman Sr. and Gladys (Seavey) Berkman.
Howard grew up in Sandy Creek and formerly resided for many years in Watertown, NY before moving to Exeter, NH 26 years ago. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Boy Scout Troop leader in the community for many years. He was formerly employed as a truck driver for Gordons Furniture and Hydes Plumbing in Watertown, NY for many years and also formerly worked as a custodian at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, NH. Howard loved nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed many camping trips with family all over the Northeast and into Canada.
He was predeceased by his grandson Norman L. Kepner II and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Mae A. (Langdon) Berkman of Exeter, NH and formerly of Watertown, NY; his son Steven D. Berkman of Mannsville, NY; his daughter Christine R. (Berkman) Kepner and her husband Norman L. Kepner Sr. of Mannsville, NY; 4 grandchildren, Amy Boone, Michael Kepner, Joshua Berkman and Zachary Berkman; 5 great grandchildren, Sean and Aaron Boone, Ethan and Allie Kepner, and Skarlytte Berkman; his sister Anna Mae Clark of Oswego, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Brewitt Funeral Service, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH is assisting the family.
