To those who dont know me, my name is Susan Wood and I am running for supervisor in the town of Hopkinton.
Due to the death of Marvin Rust, I took over the position of town supervisor.
Prior to that, I served for more than 10 years as a board member.
In addition to town government, you can find me involved in many volunteer activities such as Summer Fest, Historical Society and most of the events organized by the fire department.
I am married to Gus Wood and have two children, Sheri and Benjamin.
I work at Clarkson University in the School of Business as the assistant to the dean.
As a taxpayer, it is important to me that the person serving as supervisor is able to communicate effectively with the citizens of the town, as well as overseeing the everyday workings of the town, and work with the Town Board to financially plan for the future.
This person has to have the ability to see all sides of various issues.
Based on my experiences, I am that person for the position. Past successes include fair and consistent tax increases, balanced budgets, updated highway equipment, and fair and equitable union contracts.
My future goals for the town include the construction of a new town office, upgrading Ft. Jackson Park and maintaining a fiscally sound budget. I would also work with the highway superintendent on creating a scheduled maintenance and replacement program for both highway equipment and our local roads.
I am constantly searching for additional funds through various grants to assist the town in their endeavors. It is through this perseverance that I was able to meet with Sen. Little and locate the missing application with New York State and confirm their commitment of $60,000 toward the new municipal building.
I am in the town office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. or other times by appointment. I would appreciate your support on Election Day, Nov. 5. Thank you in advance for your support.
