Peter Keys provides competent leadership

I recently attended a budget meeting for the town of New Bremen, and I have to say I was impressed.

I felt that Peter Keys led the meeting in an open and diplomatic way.

Mr. Keys systematically reviewed every line item in the budget, explaining what each line item was and why the specific dollar amount had been assigned to it.

Many people in attendance at the meeting were given the opportunity to provide additional details regarding line items being questioned.

During the meeting, there were clear, open conversations occurring between Town Supervisor Pete Keys, town council members and those in attendance.

I truly felt as if I was assisting our elected officials with the development of the town of New Bremen’s budget.

We live in a country that ensures its citizens the ability to select and influence its governing bodies.

Everyone has the right to participate in government by casting ballots, attending meetings or running for elective offices.

It is our responsibility to educate ourselves on issues that impact our lives.

Peter Keys has given the power of local government back to the people of the town of New Bremen.

The changes that Mr. Keys has made regarding limiting use of executive sessions and employment of an accounting firm have given the people of New Bremen the means to ensure that our government is working for us.

I encourage anyone questioning his actions or decisions to direct your concerns to him.

I am proud to say that I have stepped up and educated myself on the issues of local government instead of sitting back complaining about what everyone is doing wrong.
