Donald H. Riordan, Finch Rd., Evans Mills, passed away Friday, November 1 at the Samaritan Medical Center. He was 81 years old.Donald was born in the Town of Hounsfield on December 15, 1931, a son to Harold and Emma Tanner Riordan. He was a member of the Sackets Harbor School class of 1948. Following graduation, he married Betty Lou Hines August 3, 1951 at the Chaumont Presbyterian Church, Chaumont.He served as a Sergeant in the Korean War with the United States Army, and was a bronze star recipient. Following an honorable discharge, he worked as a plumber & steamfitter for Local Union 73 for over 50 years. He also worked for Hyde Stone Mechanical Contractor, retiring in 1995. Following his retirement, he volunteered his services with Habitat for Humanity, building many local homes.Donald was very active with the First Presbyterian Church, taking part as a Deacon, Elder, and serving on the finance committee. He and Betty Lou worked as direct distributors for Amway for many years. He serves the Town of Pamelia as a deputy supervisor and town councilman.Surviving besides his wife, Betty Lou, are three daughters and their husbands: Donita (Ronald) Young, Goodyear, AZ, Bettina (Peter) Rutigliano, Watertown, Lisa (Thomas) Virkler, Watertown; a son and wife: Kurt (Connie) Riordan, Montague; a sister-in-law: Janet (William) Kelso; as well as 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.A sister and brother-in-law, Della Jean (W. Eugene) Spracklen, predeceased Donald.Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
