MASSENA - The Boys & Girls Club of Massena is honored to introduce Madison Maddie Coller, an inspirational young lady who used her birthday party as a fundraiser, of sorts, for the organization working to open its doors in community.
Maddie recently gave the Boys & Girls Club of Massena a tremendous gift for her birthday.
Her mom, Beck Tessier, explained that Maddie had a spinal fusion (rod inserted in her back) completed on June 3, 2013. Before the surgery, a group of their friends got together and had a jamboree for Maddie in which the community supported them in many ways to make the jamboree very successful.
When Maddie celebrated her 11th birthday with a 50s sock hop party at the Massena Community Center on Oct. 5, she wanted to repay the generosity shown during the jamboree. So, as a way to give back, in lieu of gifts, they asked that everyone bring art supplies or a craft item that could be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Massena.
Seventy-two people attended Maddies party and they graciously provided a lot of craft and art supplies that have been donated to the Boys and Girls Club on behalf of Maddie for all of the communitys support during the familys difficult time earlier this summer.
Maddie represents whats great about Massena, Boys & Girls Club Board President Timmy Currier commented. What a caring and remarkable young lady.
